MICHELLE OUELLET (she/her) is a 2026 Canadian Screen Award-winning director and a DGC-nominated, Leo Award-winning filmmaker whose work has screened at festivals around the world. Named one of Playback Magazine’s 10 to Watch, Michelle has built a career defined by emotionally charged storytelling, razor-sharp performances, and a distinctive command of elevated genre.

Her recent true-crime thrillers have found major international audiences: Stolen Baby: The Murder of Heidi Broussard, starring Emily Osment, reached Netflix’s Top 10 movies in the U.S., while The Girl Who Survived: The Alina Thompson Story, starring Sam Trammell and Ashley Jones, reached #1 on Paramount+ in the U.K.

An alumnus of the Whistler Film Festival Doc Lab, Michelle was shortlisted for the Sundance Film Festival’s Episodic Makers Lab for her short-form script BITRICH. Her original pilot, ETHICS 101, co-created with Nicholas Carella, was a National Screen Institute Totally Television finalist and was subsequently optioned for development.

Equally at home directing scripted film, television, and short-form, Michelle balances a thriving directing career with the development of her own original material.
